Free Tech Tips – traction

Traction refers to the resistance or friction happening between each tire and the ground surface. More traction allows your car to turn at higher speed without losing control.
Technically speaking, traction is the result of the following factors combined:

– the friction between the tire and the ground
– the area of ground covered by the tire
– the car weight which presses the tire onto the ground (in other words, weight contributes positively to traction)

Spikes on tires can improve traction for sure if you don’t mind the wear and tear of the spikes.

Flat tires, in contrast, are never good for traction.
