RCPRESS techtip: rear diff locked on a 4WD buggy

This video shows a Tamiya Blazing Star with the rear diff unit locked. A diff unit allows a RC car’s drive wheels to deliver power simultaneously even as the wheels are traveling at different speeds while cornering. A locked diff unit is not supposed to hurt anything as it simply changes the geometry of handling. However, it will be a lot more prone to spinning out in turns. There are different ways to lock a diff. For gear diff, the easiest thing to do is to use hot glue and super glue together.

As can be seen from the video, the car tends to spin out easily. It spins slightly out of control sometimes, until it reaches a point in which the tires can once again grip the ground surface.
