On a typical belt driven 4WD with its motor interacting with the center gear, this is how you come up with a gearbox/transmission ratio:
First you divide the center gear (which essentially serves as a spur) by the motor pinion. This becomes the answer for 1.
Then you divide the diff by the “smaller” section of the center gear. This way you have the answer for 2.
Finally, ans 1 times ans 2 and you will have the final gear ratio.
