RCPRESS Techtip: motor pinion for the Tamiya DF01

Manta Ray, Blazing Stars and the like all share the same DF01 chassis platform. It has limitations on the motor pinion to use. The max upper limit is 21.

Our experience shows that a regular 540 with a 21 can cook the motor pretty fast. To go with a 21 pinion you better use a high torque motor such as 550. It runs much cooler than a 540 even on flat ground surface!

In this video the Blazing Star is running on a high torque 550 motor and a 21T. 550 has slower RPM but much better torque, suitable for the 21T pinion.
