Torque-tuned motors are designed to provide increased torque at lower RPMs (revolutions per minute). This makes them effective for scenarios where the car needs to start moving from a standstill or navigate challenging terrain. They are commonly found in off-road and crawler-style RC vehicles, where the ability to handle obstacles and challenging terrains is important. They are less common in high-speed, on-road RC cars, where top speed may be prioritized over low-end torque.
Fro the vid shown below it is found that the Tamiya Torque tuned brushed motor offers surprisingly good offroad performance due to the torque it delivers. However, it does not produce any improvement for onroad racing since torque is not what is primarily needed in on road racing.
