Newer generations of RC brushed motors often come with built-in cooling fan. While this feature can improve cooling, the fan itself when overheated can crack and break very easily leading to complete motor failure. Therefore you cannot rely solely on it for motor cooling. If you are to install a heat sink, make sure the venting holes are never blocked.
