Upgrading a vintage Nikko Super Fox 4WD with modern electronics. Need a small servo, a 2.4g receiver and a brushed ESC.

The first step is to remove the top cover:

Then you want to cut/remove the existing wires and IC board:

Then you need to remove the servo motor cover and the steering assembly. Replacing this mechanism requires a lot of destructive work.


The existing steering mechanism must be completely removed.

A small servo should be secured via zip tie and hot glue. It should be positioned at the center position.

Both the ESC and the receiver should sit inside the chassis. Make an opening on the top cover for better air circulation.

Connect the ESC and the receiver:

Make a hole so the ESC battery wires can go into the battery compartment at the bottom.
