When you need to do a lot of wiring, sometimes it is very easy to make stupid mistake causing reverse polarity. Most speed controllers offer no protection against it!
To ensure the wiring is correct, you can use a multi meter. Or, you can come up with a simple testing device through the use of a small DC fan. A DC fan will spin only if the polarity is correct.
