The Tamiya TL-01, first released in 1997, was designed as a tough, simple, and highly versatile 1/10 scale 4WD touring car chassis. It became extremely popular because it offered excellent durability, easy assembly, low maintenance, and solid all-around performance at a very affordable price. For many hobbyists, the TL-01 was their first real experience with a four-wheel drive RC car. While it was never meant to be a pure racing chassis, the TL-01’s reliability, ease of maintenance, and flexibility made it extremely popular for club racing, rally conversions, and even light drifting. It could be hopped up with better shocks, ball bearings, aluminum steering upgrades, and faster motors to make it genuinely quick and fun on a wide range of surfaces.
The primary goal of this book is to explain various RC technical concepts and essential DIY upgrade & maintenance techniques applicable to TL01 in very simple language. Modern features such as 2.4G radio, Lipo batteries and brushless systems are covered in addition to the more traditional RC terminologies, techniques and technologies. We believe that this book and its support materials have everything you need for an informative, interesting, challenging and entertaining RC experience with cars based on the TL01 chassis.
