The picture shows a Lidl style glider VS a fighter jet glider. Both were modified from hand thrown to RC.
So, which one is better for RC modification, assuming differential thrust will be used?
My answer is the fighter jet. It is solid, easy to modify, and can fly even with just TWO 720 motors and 64mm props. And the result is consistent – it always works as expected!
The Lidl style glider, in contrast, is tricky on a plane by plane basis – there is no consistent results – sometimes it works on one but sometimes it won’t fly on another at all. With just TWO 720 motors and 64mm prop it may not have enough thrust and speed to fly. If you change the horizontal stablizer mounting position to the upper one it may climb too much. There is just no sure fire way to get it to work unless you upscale to 4 motors, OR change to the stronger 8520 motor and 70mm prop.
The famous Lidl Glider is LARGE – Wingspan is 86cm! And is heavy too! You will need 2S minimum to fly it (the red one shown below):
