Free Tech Tips – more on gear ratios

Gear ratios are usually quoted in the format of “2.X to 1”. This is sometimes represented in writing as 2.X:1. It is simply saying the motor has to rotate 2.X times for the car wheels to complete one full revolution. The more times the motor has to rotate to spin the wheel, the more torque you will get.

4WDs and trucks are tougher on the motor and the batteries, so you’ll need to use a relatively lower gear ratio (for the motor to rotate more times).
