Ball bearings are the most common type of bearing and are often found in upgraded R/C cars. They use small metal balls as the rollers. When the load is transmitted from the outer race to the balls (and then from the ball to the inner race), the balls only contact the inner and outer race at very small points, meaning there isn’t much contact area holding the load.
