Most RC boats steer by means of the rudder, a vertical, blade-like appendage mounted on the transom and controlled by the servo. When sailing in shallow water it is quite easy for the rudder to hit the bottom and get damaged. One useful trick to prevent damage is to use zip tie instead of screw to attach the rudder. This way if the rudder really hits something, the zip tie will take the impact and break first, allowing the rudder to survive.
