Charging Lipo – the “A” setting

>> Tech Tip - Electronics , Tech Tips >> Charging Lipo – the “A” setting

Modern chargers usually allow you to adjust the Amp value when performing a charge.

So what would be an ideal value which is safe and not-so-slow?

Generally speaking, take the capacity of the battery in mah and have it divided by 1000.

If the battery says 4500mah, you can charge it with 4.5A.

Always charge the battery at the recommended rate, which can be found on the battery or charger. Overcharging or charging too quickly can damage the battery and reduce its lifespan. Keep in mind, LiPo batteries can catch fire or explode if they are overcharged or damaged. Charge the battery in a fireproof location, such as a LiPo charging bag or metal container, to contain any potential damage.
