Toothpaste works for light break-in runs (1\u20132 minutes at low speed).<\/p>\n<p>Follow these steps:<br \/>\nApply thin layer of compound to gear teeth.<br \/>\nRun the gears at low speed for 1\u20133 minutes.<br \/>\nInspect gear mesh and stop if it looks polished.<br \/>\nThoroughly clean all parts with isopropyl alcohol or degreaser.<br \/>\nApply proper gear grease before reassembly.<\/p>\n<p>Lapping is Controlled Wear (Smoothing).
