If you’re running an RC buggy on grassland, the type of tires you choose can make a big difference in performance. Grass is a unique surface \u2014 it can be slippery, uneven, and soft in places \u2014 so you\u2019ll want tires that offer strong grip and stability.<\/p>\n

The best type of tire for this kind of terrain is a knobby or off-road tire. These have deep, aggressive treads with large lugs that help the buggy dig into the grass and maintain traction. They’re particularly effective on both short and long grass and are a common choice among hobbyists for general outdoor use. In some cases, especially when the grass is thick or wet, paddle-style tires can also work well. These tires are more extreme, with scoop-like treads that bite into soft surfaces \u2014 though they\u2019re usually used for sand, they can give you an edge in very soft grass. However, they\u2019re less suitable for drier, flatter grass where you need a bit more control and less raw digging power.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s best to avoid slicks or smooth racing tires entirely, as they provide very little grip on grass. Low-profile racing tires, which are great on packed dirt or carpet, also tend to struggle on grassy surfaces because their shallow treads can’t get enough bite.<\/p>\n
