All spinning parts are properly lubed, and all screws are properly tightened. No followup work is necessary prior to actual running. Simply put, the Tamiya XB Pro vehicles can often meet the expectation of beginners and intermediate hobbyists. HOWEVER, they are not built to be top performers. If you take a closer look at the components they use you will know what I mean.

The product shown here is based on the DF-02 platform. Both the Gravel Hound and the Plasma Edge are sharing this platform. ABS is used extensively throughout the car (including the chassis and the dampers), but structurally I don’t see any shortfall – you don’t really need to replace any of the ABS body parts with aluminum/graphite hopups unless actual breakage is evidenced.

The stock plastic dampers are not functioning smooth enough, so I would suggest that you replace them with aluminum oil shocks from, say, 3Racing. Shock mount replacement, in my opinion, is not strictly required though.

The 4WD shaft and the gearboxes are fully sealed, and there is really no need to open them up unless gear replacement becomes necessary due to wear and tear.

The stock RS 540 motor is okay for warm up purpose, but sooner or later you will want to get a faster replacement.
